8 Common Problems And Solutions During Laser Cutting Process

In recent years, laser cutting technology is developing at an unprecedented rate, growing at a rate of 15% to 20% every year. Compared with traditional oxyacetylene, plasma and other cutting processes, the laser cutting speed is fast, the slit is narrow, the heat-affected zone is small, the verticality of the slit edge is good, and the cutting edge is smooth. It can also cut many different materials such as stainless steel, alloy steel, wood, plastic, rubber, cloth, quartz, ceramics, glass, etc.

So, what are the problems that laser cutting machines often encounter in the actual cutting process?

1. Laser cutting machine doesn’t work after turning on

This kind of problem is generally caused by the output and input of the power supply, you can check the power supply. The power failure is generally caused by the burnout of the fuse or the problem of the power switch, which requires better high-quality power fuses and control switch.

2. The output light of the machine is very weak after running for a period of time

When encountering such a situation, first check whether the focal length has changed. If there is no change, check whether the focusing lens is polluted and the optical path system deviates unexpectedly. The most important thing is to check whether the water circulation is circulating. The smooth water circulation can dissipate the heat of the machine as much as possible and improve the energy conversion of the laser equipment, then finally achieve the focus of the light source.

3. Abnormal sparks often occur when cutting thin mild steel

Usually when laser cutting thin mild steel, the sparks are long and flat, and there are fewer split ends, but abnormal sparks will affect the smoothness and quality of the surface of the workpiece.

When other parameters are normal, you should consider the condition of the nozzle. If the nozzle defects, it should be replaced in time.

If there is no new nozzle to replacement, the cutting gas pressure should be increased. If the thread at the connection between the nozzle and the laser cutting head is loose, it’s better stopping cutting immediately, check the connection status of the laser cutting head, and reconnect the thread.

4. QBH is hot

If the QBH is hot, check the collimation upper protective lens first, and replace it in time if it is damaged. If there is no problem with the protective lens, pull out the optical fiber to check the status of the collimating lens and the fiber end face.

5. The nozzle or the focusing cavity is hot

A: First check whether the protective lens has obvious burning spots or water vapor and oil on the surface. If the protective lens has burning spots, you need to replace the protective lens. If there is water vapor or oil pollution on the protective lens, you need to check the filter part of the air compressor, and to replace the air filter or repair the air dryer. If there is no problem with the protective lens, you need to check the state of the focusing lens and the water flow of the focusing water-cooling plate.

6. The focus position of the cutting head automatically changes during cutting

Generally, if this problem came out, the sealing ring of the protective lens is damaged, and the air pressure enters the focusing cavity, causing the lens to move upwards. So the sealing ring of the protective lens needs to be replaced. If the replacement is invalid, it is necessary to confirm whether the thickness of the protective lens is deviated.

7. The blowing pressure of the cutting head is small, and the nitrogen gas outlet flow is obviously not enough

First, take out the protective lens drawer and observe whether there is any obvious foreign matter coming out of the air ring. Disassemble the sensor part of the cutting head, take out the cushion cover of the air path, install it back into the protective mirror drawer, click the air blow to blow out the foreign objects in the air path opening, and then restore the cutting head. If the air pressure still cannot be raised after cleaning, it is necessary to check whether the pipes in the drag chain of the machine tool are folded and whether there are foreign objects blocked inside the battery valve.

8. After the auto-focusing cutting head returns to the origin, the focus is not zero or an error is reported when returning to the origin

First, you need to open the platform configuration tool, find the focus control parameter column, enlarge the value of the positive and negative limits to 30, manually control the focus to move to the positive and negative limits, and observe whether the limit will alarm. The cutting head needs to be reworked. If the limit can be sensed normally, return to the origin, and then change the focusing stroke back to plus or minus 10, and it can be used normally.

When there is a limit inside the cutting head that cannot be sensed, the back-to-origin alarm will occur, and the customer will change the direction of the back-to-origin to use another limit as the origin.
